2025 NSAL Dreyfoos Concerto Competition

Mission: To encourage the study of concerti and development of solo performance skills while expanding the repertoire performed by the A.W. Dreyfoos Philharmonic Orchestra. 

Competition sponsored by the National Society of Arts and Letters of Florida 

 Eligibility: Open to all instrumentalists, pianists, and vocalists currently enrolled as music majors at the A.W. Dreyfoos High School for the Performing Arts.

Application deadline is January 1, 2025

Application includes a video of selected work

Finalists will be notified by January 7, 2025

Live competition: February 1, 2025 at 1:00 at the Lynn University Conservatory of Music in Boca Raton

Repertoire: Repertoire must be approved by chairperson Jeff Adkins. 

Winners Concert with the Dreyfoos Philharmonic Orchestra in West Palm Beach: May 2025

Co-chairs: Jeff Adkins and Alyce Erickson

Prizes:

1st: $2000 and performance with the Dreyfoos Philharmonic

In addition, thanks to the generosity of LuAnne Warner-Prokos, the first place recipient will receive a professional photo shoot at WarnerProkos Photography -WP Portraits , valued at $850.

2nd: $1500 and performance with the Dreyfoos Philharmonic

3rd: $1000 and performance with the Dreyfoos Philharmonic

Four Special jury prizes: $500

Martorella Classical Voice Competition

National Prizes: $10,000 in prizes are awarded

Entry is through the local chapter competition, which is chaired by Judi Asselta.

Competition applicants must be between the ages of 23-31

Competition is conducted via video, and all requirements/guidelines are in the attachment below.

Entrants will be reviewed by local Chapter's judges and a maximum of two will be chosen to advance to the National competition.

The winner will be invited to perform at NSAL National Competition May 8-10 in Pittsburg, PA.

NSAL Writing Scholarship

Now Closed

National Scholarships: $10,000 in Scholarships Awarded

Scholarship Applicants must be between the ages of 16-22.

Please write one fiction short story between 1,000 and 7,500 words.

No AI content or assistance will be accepted.

Full details in the guidelines attached.
